Old Vine Rieslings Win Big for Wild Goose

Wines made from thirty-year old Riesling vines are winning big for Wild Goose Vineyards & Winery in the 2015 competition circuit.  Just announced, Wild Goose 2013 Stoney Slope Riesling wins Best White Wine at the All Canadian Wine Championships in Ontario last week; this following on the heels of the recent win of Best Riesling for the same wine at the Best of Varietal Awards hosted by the Okanagan Wine Festival Society just two weeks earlier.

Wild Goose 2013 Classic Riesling, made from grapes grown in the same vineyard planted in 1983, won a trophy for Best Dry Riesling from the International Riesling Foundation at the Riverside International Wine Competition on May 8.  The 2013 Botrytis Affected Riesling also took a Gold at the All Canadian Wine Championships

“We are celebrating our 25th Anniversary as a winery this year at Wild Goose,” says General Manager and Co-Owner Roland Kruger, “these vines were some of the first Rieslings planted in British Columbia and their exceptional quality really came through in the 2013 vintage.  The Stoney Slope Vineyard was the first one acre block we planted on the site. Our family must have hand-picked over 10,000 stones to make this vineyard perfect for growing world-class Riesling.”

Other Wild Goose winners include the 2014 Mystic River Gewurztraminer which won Best Gewurztraminer in the Best of Varietal Awards and a Double Gold at the All Canadian Wine Championships and as well as the 2014 Pinot Gris which won a Gold medal at the same competition.

Wild Goose wines can be purchased in select Signature BC Liquor Stores, private liquor stores and restaurants across B.C. as well as at the winery and on the winery website.
