In the early years Adolf Kruger worked diligently at producing wines that were consistent every vintage. The first vintage consisted of Gewurztraminer, Riesling and Marechal Foch. New wines were added to the portfolio including Pinot Blanc, Merlot, Pinot Noir, and a blend called Autumn Gold. Wild Goose concentrated on these wines for many years gaining province wide appeal. The winemaking style at Wild Goose is the simplest known in the winemaking world, crisp, clean, and consistent!! On paper this sounds easy, but ask any winemaker and they will tell you these are the toughest characteristics to achieve in wine. Wild Goose has done just this; year after year the wines exhibit the best that Mother Nature has to offer. From carefully grown grapes to the delicate bottling process, Wild Goose wines are benchmarks of British Columbia winemaking at it’s best!
In the late nineties Adolf handed over the winemaking reigns to Hagen Kruger who has done a brilliant job in raising the bar of winemaking quality, not only at Wild Goose but throughout the entire province and Canada. Hagen’s approach to winemaking has been to grow the highest quality fruit and then transfer this quality into ultra premium wines. Hagen’s achievements as a winemaker over his short tenure rank amongst the highest in Canada. Some of his achievements include the following:
1999 Gewurztraminer-Best Of Show Indy International Wine Competition
2000 Pinot Blanc-Top Pinot Blanc in Canada Wine Access Magazine
2000-2005 Gewurztraminer Gold Medal Okanagan Wine Festivals

One of the greatest winemaking achievements occurred in the spring of 2007 when Wild Goose Vineyards was honoured as British Columbia Winery of the Year by the Wine Press Northwest magazine!! Just when Wild Goose thought this honour could never be eclipsed, in 2009 Wild Goose was honoured by Wine Press Northwest as the Pacific Northwest Winery of The Year!! An achievement never accomplished by a family run winery! This award not only recognizes the premium wines produced by Wild Goose Vineyards, but the hard work and dedication by all the Wild Goose staff and family!!
