2016 Pinot Gris wins Top Honours

Wild Goose Vineyards is thrilled to announce that its 2016 Pinot Gris took top honours at last week’s 5th Annual Cascadia Wine Competition held in Hood River, Oregon with “Best in Class”, “Best White Wine” and the ultimate prize “Best in Show”, topping the 948 entries.

In addition to the “Best in Show” for the Pinot Gris, Wild Goose wines garnered 8 gold medals, including three best in class awards and 4 double gold medals, covering the 2016 Gewurztraminer, 2016 Mystic River Gewurztraminer, 2015 Red Horizon Meritage, 2016 God’s Mountain Riesling, 2016 Riesling, 2016 Rosé, and 2016 Autumn Gold.

“We are beyond thrilled” said Winemaker Hagen Kruger. “It was truly a team effort, from the vineyards right through to putting the wines into the bottle. This was also the last vintage my father ever experienced and a great tribute to him! We could not be happier.”

Long time organizers of the competition and Washington based wine writers, Eric Degerman and Andy Perdue, said “This marks the first time a Walla Walla Washington wine has not taken the Best in Show award.”

The Cascadia Wine Competition has been held for the last 5 years in Oregon State and invites wines from Oregon, Washington, Idaho and British Columbia to compete. The 21 judges from across the US and Canada and from varying roles within the wine industry, including journalists, Master of Wine and other winemakers. One wine journalist from California posted on social media: “Let the countdown begin: How long before we see the headline: Okanagan Falls – The Next Napa?” In total BC wineries amassed 45 gold medals.

2nd Annual Beale Street Festival @ Wild Goose Vineyards

Wild Goose is at it again with their 2nd Annual Beale Street Festival. Happening October 10 from 12:00 – 6:00pm the annual festival will be a tribute to the popular Memphis based Beale Street Music Festival. Taking on a true festival theme, the event will feature an Artesian Market complete with craft, food, and beverage vendors in addition to four live bands playing on the Vineyard Stage.

“We’re thrilled to cap off our 25th Anniversary celebrations with the Beale Street Festival.”, says General Manager and Co-Owner Roland Kruger, “It’s going to be an amazing day, Sherman Doucette is bringing an all-star lineup of Blues legends including Juno award winning Kenny “Blues Boss” Wayne, former BB King bass player Russel B. Jackson, Vancouver piano-man Doc Fingers, and Charlie Jacobson on guitar. Our Smoke & Oak Bistro will be serving up delicious BBQ from our Tennessee smoker and we’ll be pouring our award winning Wild Goose wines alongside Bad Tattoo beers and Howling Moon Craft Cider. Being a family friendly event we’ll also have face painting, non-alcoholic drinks, art, and locally made products. There’s something for everyone; you won’t find a better event for $15.”
